The Governing Body of St Catherine of Siena Catholic Primary School are seeking to appoint an ambitious and collaborative deputy leader to serve alongside the Headteacher. St Catherine of Siena Catholic Primary School is a successful one form entry primary school with a nursery located in the heart of Birmingham. The school has a diverse community and has approximately 240 on roll, with a high proportion of children whose first language is not English.

We are seeking a Deputy Headteacher who:

• is a practicing Catholic with a clear understanding of Catholic education and what it means in practice to ensure the school’s Catholic identity at the forefront of all we do

• has the vision and ability to support the Headteacher in leading the community through transformation as we strengthen collaboration with partner schools and join them within a strong and flourishing Catholic Multi-Academy Family

• has a proven track record and can evidence whole school impact on pupil progress and attainment as a school leader and the drive to constantly seek to improve standards

• has at the heart of their work the safety and wellbeing of children

• has high expectations of achievement for all staff and pupils and the motivation, organisational & inter-personal skills to inspire this in others

• can continue to develop our talented team of staff and support their development as systems leaders within the newly formed multi academy

• is committed to the mission of the Church and the vision of the Archdiocese to “be a Catholic diocese which is faithful to the mission entrusted to us by Jesus Christ, full of missionary disciples who work together co-responsibly in vibrant communities of faith, joyful in their service of God and neighbour”

The completed application form should be returned to the Chair of Governors, Monica Todd no later than 9.00 am on Monday, April 20 2026.  Shortlisted candidates will be notified by Tuesday, 21 April. Assessments and interviews will take place on Tuesday, 28 April 2026.

The successful candidate will be expected to sign the CES contract.
