Art & Design

At St Catherine of Siena, we want our art and design curriculum to stimulate creativity and imagination. We hope to provide visual, tactile and sensory experiences, and a special way of understanding and responding to the world, enabling children to communicate what they see, feel and think through the use of colour, texture, form, pattern and different materials and processes. We want children to become involved in shaping their environments through art and design activities, to learn to make informed judgements, aesthetic and practical decisions and explore ideas and meanings through the work of artists and designers. We believe that the appreciation and enjoyment of the visual arts enrich all our lives, and that our creativity is irretrievably linked to our spirituality.

Under the Sea Art Exhibition

At St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Primary School, we aim to provide our pupils with opportunities to create purposeful Art. We recently created an immersive exhibition, celebrating under the sea artwork.

The whole School worked collaboratively and we are very proud of the outcome. The exhibition provided an opportunity to view artworks from new angles and discover unique perspectives. Our immersive exhibition ensured our pupils were surrounded by a vibrant symphony of light, colour, sound and fragrance as they wander around their exhibition and absorb it from every possible angle. The pupils artwork jumping to life, a feeling that is enchanting, entertaining and educational.
