In line with the National Curriculum for Physical Education, the purpose of the PE Curriculum at St Catherine of Siena Catholic Primary School is to ‘inspire all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities.’ At St Catherine’s, we recognise the importance of PE not only in terms of physical wellbeing, but also the impact it can have on mental well-being and learning. Alongside discrete PE lessons we aim to make physical activity an integral part of each day. By offering a wide range of sporting and physical activity throughout the day, our PE curriculum ensures it provides both; ‘opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way in which supports their health and fitness’. As well as ‘opportunities to compete in sport and other activities, build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.’
