The Rainbow Room
We are very proud of our Rainbow Room, - a dedicated space for children (and their families).
Despite it’s name, the Rainbow Room is a calming, warm and welcoming place available in order to provide a consistent, predictable and safe place for children.
Its purpose is to offer children opportunities to revisit early learning skills to promote and support their social and emotional development. There is much research evidence that shows that children’s learning is most effective when they have a sense of emotional well-being, good self-esteem and a feeling of belonging to their school community. Here at St Catherine’s, The Rainbow Room provides children with this opportunity and helps to develop their maturity and resilience.
The Rainbow Room is a place of learning.
Sensory Area
While many people are familiar with the use of sensory rooms and tents for those with particular special educational needs, they can also be utilised for individuals with a variety of developmental challenges in the areas of communication, movement and balance and social skills.
Our Sensory Tent has been designed to offer an area for individuals to learn to regulate their negative reactions to external stimuli, by developing coping skills for these experiences.
