Geography

Here at St Catherine’s, we regard Geography as a creative, ambitious and inclusive subject where we plan to enable children to gain a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people.  It is intended that this will remain with them for the rest of their lives.

Through the curriculum, teachers plan for enquiry-based learning which aims to inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about the world that God created for us and the various peoples who live in this world.  Careful considerations have been made to topics to allow children to investigate a range of places – both in Britain and abroad – to help develop their knowledge and understanding of the Earth’s physical and human processes. As a school, our aim is for children to gain a greater appreciation of the lives and cultures of people around the world and develop their understanding of being global citizens and form their own ideas about the importance of sustainable development and understand the impact human activity can have on the environment.
