Hello parents and children

I hope you are all keeping well and safe. It was great to speak to some of you last week, I will be speaking to more of you this week.

Now Easter is over, I know some of you have already completed the work set, for before Easter and this first week back. So next week beginning the 27.4.20 you will have more activities and worksheets to complete, there will be a timetable for each day and lessons planned for each day. Until I speak to you again remember keep washing your hands, stay at home, please don’t go out visiting family and friends instead phone them, face time or even write them a letter. That way we will hopefully all be able to return to school very soon.

L.O. To talk about your book.
Activity: Choose a book that you have read recently, choose a character from the book. Get child to tell you about a character in the book, the setting and to retell the story in their own words.

Lesson 2:SPAG
Introducing a prefix (by adding letters at the beginning of a word to change the meaning of the word) to your child.

Go through the prefix-un presentation with child. If time to challenge go through the worksheet that comes with the presentation.

Lesson 3:
Story writing- Recap the story of the gingerbread man.
Ask children to create their own gingerbread man character. Ask questions e.g. What is his/her name? What do they look like? What are they made of?
Ask children to write a description of their character, they can add pictures as well if wanted.

 

Lesson 4:
Story writing- Recap character children created yesterday.
Use this character to add to your own story. Using the link below to create a comic strip about your new character. ONLY USE THE FIRST 2 WORKSHEETS ON THE LINK (cook up a character and create a comic).

In history you will be looking at seaside holidays in the past.

Week Commencing 27.4.20
Lesson 1: L.O. To recognise features of a seaside holiday. When do we have holidays? What holidays from school do we have? Have you ever been on a seaside holiday or a day trip? Where was this holiday? What was it like?

Week commencing 4.5.20
Lesson 2: L.O. To use photographs to find clues as to what seaside holidays were like in the past. How has the clothes people wear change? Hairstyles? Cars? Entertainment?

Week commencing 11.5.20
Lesson 3: L.O. To find out when and how seaside holidays became popular. Why did trains make going to the seaside more popular? Why was it only rich people to begin with who only went to the seaside? Why did people think going to the seaside was good for you?

Week commencing 27.5.20
Lesson 4: L.O. To be able to recognise similarities and differences between seaside holidays now and in the past. How many things about seaside holidays can you think of that are the same today as they would have been a hundred years ago? How many things about seaside holidays can you think of that are different today as they would have been a hundred years ago?

RE

In RE you will be looking at what it means to be a follower of Jesus and sharing his life.

 

Week commencing 27.4.20
L.O. To list qualities of a special friend.
Task: Discuss with child who their special friends are. What makes them a special friend? What qualities do we look for in a friend? How would we want our friends to treat us?
Get child to make a list of the qualities of a good friend and then choose 2 qualities and write about how these make you feel.

Week commencing 4.5.20
L.O. To research facts about a disciple.
Task: Recap what makes a special friend. What makes you a special friend? Do you have the qualities your friends are looking for?
We are now going to look at the special friends Jesus had. Do you know who they were? What jobs did they do? (Use video link as a reminder for who the disciples are- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EzW-tnZ-Lw ). Use Ipad/ laptop to find out facts about your chosen disciple.

Week commencing 11.5.20
L.O. To know facts about Jesus.

Introduce lesson by watching video clip of when Jesus had dinner with the tax collector ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nqllVTt1bA). What does this tell you about the people Jesus actually chose? Why was Matthew unpopular with some of the Jewish people?
Task: Write a recount of Jesus and the tax collector in your own words.

Week commencing 18.5.20
L.O. To make a wanted poster.
Recap the names of the disciples. How many were there? What characteristics did good disciples have? What makes you think you would be a good disciple?
Task: Create a prayer asking Jesus to make you a good disciple today.

 

                                                                                                                                                                                       

Science

In science you will be completing some work on identifying animals.

Week commencing 27.4.20:
L.O: To be able to recognise and name a variety of common animals. Who owns a pet? What kind of animal is it?

Week commencing 4.5.20:
L.O: To be able to recognise and name a variety of common UK mammals. Can the children identify carious mammals? Can the children name various mammals?

Week commencing 11.5.20:
L.O: To be able to recognise and compare a variety of common UK birds and reptiles. What are the differences between a bird and a reptile? What is similar?

Week commencing 18.5.20:
L.O: To be able to recognise and compare common UK fish and amphibians. How are they similar? How are they different?
