Monday 25th January

Badger is beginning to feel a little bit worried and guilty about Mr Fox’s plan to steal from the three farmers. Mr Fox defends his actions, by discussing the needs of his four small children.

If Mr Fox isn’t careful, he could end up being impounded by Animal Control! Today, I would like you to write a letter to Animal Control, arguing his right to freedom! You will need to think carefully about the conjunctions you use.

Tuesday 26th January

During today’s chapter of ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’, the characters sample some of Bean’s amazing and fiery cider. This cider was made by Bean himself and is described to be like ‘melted gold’, ‘rainbows’ and ‘sunbeams’.

This gave me an idea! Today, I would like you to imagine the most outrageous, ridiculous and explosive concoction you can think of! Which ingredients should you NEVER mix together to make a drink? Which ingredients would cause your throat to sizzle and your stomach to bubble?

Once you’ve thought of your ingredients, I would like you to write a set of instructions about how to make this concoction/drink. But please don’t actually make it… or drink it!

Wednesday 27th January

What an exciting chapter of ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’!

Our heroes were nearly caught and killed by Mrs Bean and Mabel!

Inspired by today’s chapter, I had a go at creating my own piece of suspenseful writing, but I think I may have made a few mistakes. Can you please help me to correct my work? I will post it onto ClassDojo.

Before you do, have a look at the following online lesson from the BBC, which should help you with today’s task:

Thursday 28th January

Hoorah! Today is the day of the GREAT FEAST! At last, Mr Fox and Badger can return home to everyone else and enjoy the most delightful, delicious and delectable food they have eaten in a very long time!

Whilst running back through the dark tunnels, Mr Fox and Badger make up a poem about Mrs Fox and food. Today, we’re going to do the same! We’re going to write a poem about some of our favourite foods.

Geography

Monday 25th Jan

Did you enjoy last week’s lesson about the various amazing animals which can be found in Africa? Thank you for creating your very own safari maps by placing the African animals in their correct habitats!

To follow a map, you often need to use and understand compass points. But what is a compass and how do you use It? During today’s lesson, we hope to find out!

Look out for a presentation and activity to support today’s learning on ClassDojo.

RE

Tuesday 26th January

What is your favourite season of the year? It’s a difficult choice, right? Each new season brings something to celebrate: we enjoy the glorious sun in summer, but the wonderful colours in Autumn! It’s the same with the Church’s year: there are lots of seasons and lots of reasons to celebrate each one!

Today, I would like you to learn about the Church (or Liturgical) year. What are the different seasons and what happens during each one? Each season has a colour and I would like you to find out what those colours are.

Here is a video which might help you with today’s learning:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tP47sSYbF4k

Ultimately, I would like you to complete my Liturgical calendar with the correct colours

and with a symbol of your own choice.

Look out for a presentation and activity to support this learning on ClassDojo.

Today, we are going to learn about a very important Sacrament. Wait - What are the Sacraments? There are seven of them. Can you name them?

During this lesson, we will learn about the Sacrament of Baptism.

Have you been Baptised? What happened? What does this Sacrament mean?

By the end of today’s lesson, we hope to be able to answer some of the above questions.

PSHE

That’s not fair!

What does ‘being fair’ mean? How do you know if something is ‘unfair’? Have you ever been treated unfairly? How did it make you feel? Have you ever been unfair towards others? How do you think that made them feel?

Today, I would like you to explore the above questions. Firstly, I would like you to watch the short video clip at the following link:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/pshe-ks1-ks2-what-is-fair/zh98qp3

Afterwards, I would like you to complete a sorting activity which I will share onto ClassDojo.

Science

Monday 25th January

Do plants only grow from seeds? What else can they grow from?

Today’s lesson is all about bulbs. Nope, I don’t mean the lightbulbs above your head! What are bulbs? How do they differ from seeds? What do they need to grow?

Hopefully, by the end of today’s lesson, we will become experts in botany!

Look out for a presentation and activity to support this learning on ClassDojo.

Thursday 28th January

Today, we’re going to continue learning how to become computer programmers.

To do this, you will need to log into your account on Code.org.

Once you have logged in, I would like you to find and resume Course C, which will continue teaching you how to create and debug your very first computer algorithms.

I would like you to complete Lesson 6 (Collecting Treasure with Laurel).
